CoolPeel Laser in Miami: CO2 Results Without the Week Off
A treatment mode of the SmartXide Tetra CO2 by DEKA · CoolPeel® is a Cartessa Aesthetics trademark
CoolPeel is the reason CO2 lasers stopped being a once-a-decade event. Using the Tetra's shortest, highest-peak pulse, it removes the tired outer layer of skin with very little residual heat — so you get the brightness, tightness and pore refinement of a CO2 laser with a weekend of pinkness instead of a week of hiding. It is our most-requested laser for first-timers, for maintenance between deeper treatments, and for the neck, chest and hands. Individual results vary.

CoolPeel Laser
Why people choose it
Chosen for your skin
Real CO2, real fast
A full face in under fifteen minutes with little or no numbing.
Back to life by Monday
Redness by evening, dry and sandpapery for a day or two, makeup when the flaking settles.
The maintenance laser
The treatment people repeat because it fits their calendar: quarterly glow-ups, pre-event polish, and yearly upkeep after a deeper CO2.
Pairs with everything
CoolPeel after Morpheus8 in the same visit is one of the most effective combinations in aesthetics: depth and surface, 1–3 days of downtime.
What it treats
The concerns we start with
Dull, tired skin
The immediate brightness people notice first.
Fine lines
Around the eyes and mouth, forehead and cheeks.
Enlarged pores
Tightens the look of pores across the T-zone and cheeks.
Sun damage
Mottled tone and light brown spots.
Rough texture
Smooths "orange-peel" and uneven skin.
Mild acne scarring
Softens shallow scars in a series.
Neck & chest
Crepiness and sun damage with a gentler setting.
Hands
Spotted, thin skin on the backs of the hands.
Pre-event polish
A single session two to three weeks before a wedding or shoot.
The technology
The right energy, precisely placed
CoolPeel is the Tetra's H-Pulse mode: very short, very high-peak-power pulses delivered through the DOT scanner in a scattered pattern. The pulse is long enough to vaporize the surface layer and short enough that almost no heat lingers in the tissue around each DOT — that is where the "cool" comes from, and why swelling, weeping and prolonged redness are so much less than with a traditional CO2 pass. A lower-energy setting is used for the thinner skin of the neck, chest, hands and around the eyes.
Delivered on the DEKA Tetra, which is FDA-cleared for ablative skin resurfacing; CoolPeel is the name of a treatment setting, not a separate device.

Who it's for
A good fit starts with an assessment
Good for
- Adults in their 30s–60s who want a visible refresh without downtime they cannot explain at work.
- Fitzpatrick I–III, and IV at conservative settings with pigment pre-treatment.
- Patients between or after deeper treatments who want to protect the result.
- Anyone pairing resurfacing with Morpheus8 or injectables.
Not for
- Deep wrinkles, significant laxity or deep acne scars — those need medium/deep CO2 or Morpheus8.
- Significant melasma or deep pigment — Pico or a topical program first.
- Active tan, active infection or cold sore, pregnancy, keloid history.
Your treatment plan
A plan, not a one-size-fits-all session
- 01
The series
Series of 3–4 sessions, about 4 weeks apart; results build with each.
- 02
Maintenance
Maintenance once or twice a year, or quarterly for patients who use it as their "laser facial."
- 03
Same-day combination
Morpheus8 first, CoolPeel immediately after; 2–3 combined sessions a few weeks apart.
- 04
Numbing
Most patients need none; brief topical for the eyes and lip area.
What to expect
Before, during and after
before
- No sun or self-tanner for 2–4 weeks; stop retinoids and acids 5–7 days before; antiviral if you get cold sores and we are treating around the mouth.
during
- Warm, prickling snaps as the scanner moves across the face; 5–15 minutes; eyes shielded.
after
- Pink and warm like a sunburn by evening; dry, tight and sandpapery on days 1–3 with fine flaking; glow by day 5–7.
Downtime & healing
Your recovery, day by day
Day 0
Pink to red, warm, tight.
Day 1–2
Redness fades to pink; skin feels dry and rough.
Day 3–5
Fine flaking finishes; makeup comfortable.
Day 7–10
Smooth, brighter skin; the "CoolPeel glow."
Week 4
Next session in the series.
Aftercare
Care that carries the result
- Gentle cleanser and a bland moisturizer; no actives or exfoliants for about a week.
- Mineral SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun for two weeks.
- No heat, sweat or saunas for 48 hours; do not pick flakes.
- Makeup once the skin stops feeling raw, usually 24–48 hours.
Results
Change, on your timeline
- Brightness within a week; cumulative improvement in texture, pores and fine lines across the series, with collagen building for 1–3 months after the last session.
- Longevity depends on sun habits; most patients maintain once or twice a year.
- Individual results vary.
Risks & safety
An honest conversation first
- Expected: 1–3 days of redness, dryness and flaking.
- Possible: temporary darkening in tanned or deeper skin tones, acne or milia flare, cold-sore reactivation around the mouth.
- Uncommon: prolonged redness, infection; demarcation lines are rare with the scattered pattern.
Why No Filter
Over-qualified for this. On purpose.

FAQs
Your questions, answered
It is low downtime, not none. Expect to look sunburned the evening of treatment and dry and flaky for a day or two. Most people are comfortable at work the next day and wearing makeup within 48 hours.
Three to four, about a month apart, then one or two a year to maintain. A single session before an event gives a real glow but not the full result.
Fitzpatrick I–III are ideal; type IV can be treated conservatively with pigment pre-treatment. For V–VI we recommend Morpheus8, Laser Genesis or Pico instead.
It feels like warm, prickling snaps for a few minutes. Most patients skip numbing; we offer a brief topical for the eye and lip areas.
Yes — CoolPeel has a lower-energy setting designed for thinner skin, and the neck, chest and hands are some of the most rewarding areas to treat.
CoolPeel works top-down on the surface: tone, pores, fine lines. Morpheus8 works bottom-up in the dermis: laxity, jowls, deeper scars. Many patients need both, and we do them in the same visit.
Two to three weeks before, so you are fully flake-free and glowing.
It is a laser that removes the surface with precision and triggers collagen with controlled heat; a peel works chemically and microneedling works mechanically. CoolPeel typically gives more improvement per session than either, with similar downtime.
