Microneedling with PDGF in Brickell, Miami — Pharmaceutical-Grade Growth Factor, No Blood Draw
Of all the growth factors your platelets release when skin is injured, one is the conductor: platelet-derived growth factor, PDGF, the molecule that calls fibroblasts to the site and tells them to start building collagen. Microneedling with PDGF delivers a purified, pharmaceutical-grade form of that signal — paired with hyaluronic acid — through the microchannels created by medical microneedling. The result is the regenerative lift of a PRP treatment with a key difference: no blood draw, and the same dose every time. At No Filter Medical Spa it is performed by licensed providers under medical director oversight in about 60 minutes. Individual results vary.

Overview
What Microneedling + PDGF is
PDGF was the first growth factor ever isolated, in the 1970s, and it remains one of the best-characterized molecules in wound healing: it is chemotactic for fibroblasts (it summons them), mitogenic (it makes them multiply) and it switches on collagen and extracellular-matrix production. A recombinant form of PDGF has been used in medicine for decades to accelerate the healing of chronic wounds — which tells you how seriously its biology is taken.
For microneedling, PDGF comes as a purified serum formulated with hyaluronic acid. Because it is manufactured rather than harvested from you, its concentration is consistent from session to session, there is nothing to draw, spin or wait for, and the hyaluronic acid adds immediate hydration and barrier support to the regenerative effect. Patients tend to describe PDGF treatments as the calmest, quickest-to-settle version of microneedling they have had.
A few facts worth knowing
- PDGF is the growth factor that initiates the collagen-building phase of healing; many others act downstream of it.
- A purified formulation means a known dose every time — no variability from hydration, diet, sleep or platelet count.
- No blood draw, no centrifuge: ideal for patients who dislike needles in the arm or who have been told their PRP yield is low.
- The hyaluronic acid in the serum binds water in the newly treated skin, which is why the glow is visible so quickly.
The Technology
How it works
- Open the channels. The microneedling pen creates a field of microchannels at a provider-set depth for each zone.
- Deliver the signal. PDGF-and-hyaluronic serum is applied during and immediately after each pass, while the channels are open and absorption is at its peak.
- Recruit and build. PDGF draws fibroblasts to the treated layer and switches on collagen, elastin and matrix production; the hyaluronic acid hydrates from within.
- Settle quickly. Because the serum supports the skin's own repair process, redness tends to resolve faster and the barrier recovers sooner than with microneedling alone.
- Compound over a series. Each session adds to the last; results typically build over three to four treatments.
Candidacy
Who it's for
- Patients who want regenerative microneedling without a blood draw
- Anyone who values predictability — the same formulation and dose at every session
- Fine lines, early loss of firmness, dullness and uneven texture
- Dehydrated or barrier-compromised skin that needs hydration alongside collagen stimulation
- Busy schedules: the quickest-settling of our microneedling options
- Patients whose PRP yield is limited (anemia, medication, low platelet count) and who still want a growth-factor treatment
Not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active infection, cold sores or inflammatory skin disease, within six months of isotretinoin, with a history of keloids, or with a known sensitivity to any component of the serum. Deep ice-pick scars and significant laxity may be better served by other options; we will tell you.
Step by Step
The process
- Consultation — Skin assessment, photographs, history and medication review; zone-by-zone depth mapping and the number of sessions. Written plan and consent.
- Prep (one week before) — Pause retinoids, acids and self-tanner; avoid sun; arrive make-up free. No dietary restrictions are needed since there is no blood draw.
- Numbing (20 minutes) — Topical anesthetic applied and allowed to take full effect.
- Treatment (20–25 minutes) — Cleanse and prep; microneedling pass by pass with PDGF serum applied continuously through the open channels.
- Finish — A final layer of serum is left on; barrier cream; written aftercare. LED light may be added when appropriate.
- Series — Three to four sessions four weeks apart, then maintenance two to three times a year.
Your Visit
What to expect
With numbing, a warm vibration with brief sharper moments on the forehead and upper lip. You leave pink and dewy; redness typically fades within 12–24 hours, and the skin feels hydrated rather than tight. A brighter, smoother look often appears within the first one to two weeks — sooner than with microneedling alone — and firmness and fine-line improvement build over four to six weeks and across the series. Individual results vary.
Recovery
Downtime & activity restrictions
- Pink for 12–24 hours; minimal flaking; make-up usually fine from the next day
Aftercare
Aftercare
- Leave the serum on for at least six hours; no washing, make-up or touching that evening
- From the next morning: gentle cleanser, the recovery moisturizer provided and mineral SPF 30+
- No actives (retinoids, acids, vitamin C) for five days
- Avoid heavy exercise, saunas, pools and direct sun for 24–48 hours
- No other facial treatments, waxing or self-tanner for one week
Results
Results timeline & longevity
Visible glow and smoother texture within one to two weeks; improved firmness, fine lines and overall skin quality over four to six weeks; cumulative results across three to four sessions, maintained two to three times a year with daily SPF. Individual results vary.
Safety
Risks & safety
Redness, mild swelling, dryness and pinpoint bleeding during treatment; occasional bruising or temporary breakouts; rarely, sensitivity to a serum component or post-inflammatory darkening if sun is not avoided. Infection and scarring are very rare with sterile, single-use cartridges. The PDGF serum is applied topically through microchannels; it is a cosmetic-grade formulation and is not an FDA-approved drug for this use.
Options
How it compares & what it combines with
- PDGF vs. PRP: PRP is your own full spectrum of growth factors but requires a blood draw and varies with your physiology; PDGF is one purified, standardized signal with hyaluronic acid and no needle in the arm. Choose PRP for scar remodeling and the most natural approach; PDGF for consistency, hydration and the gentlest recovery.
- PDGF vs. Salmon DNA (PDRN): PDRN is a polynucleotide that excels at repair, barrier and calming reactive skin; PDGF is a direct collagen-building signal. Reactive or inflamed skin leans PDRN; firmness and texture lean PDGF.
- PDGF vs. exosomes: exosomes deliver thousands of signaling molecules at once for a broad regenerative effect; PDGF is targeted and predictable. Patients often start with PDGF and move to exosomes for an intensive series.
- PDGF vs. microneedling alone: the same channels, plus the signal that tells fibroblasts to build — and a noticeably softer recovery.
Why No Filter
Care built around you
Growth-factor serums are only worth their price if they reach the layer where collagen is made and are applied at the right moment — while the channels are open. At No Filter the depth is mapped by a licensed provider for each zone, the serum goes on during every pass rather than once at the end, and the product is a purified pharmaceutical-grade PDGF formulation, not a "growth factor" marketing label. Medical director oversight, sterile single-use consumables, and a provider who will tell you whether PRP, PDRN or exosomes would serve your skin better.
