Microneedling in Brickell, Miami — Collagen Induction, Planned by a Licensed Provider
Microneedling — collagen induction therapy — is the most reliable way to improve skin texture, pore appearance, fine lines and shallow scarring using nothing but your skin's own repair response. A sterile, medical-grade pen creates thousands of precise micro-channels at a depth your provider sets for each zone of the face; the skin reads those channels as an instruction to produce new collagen and elastin, and over the following weeks it does. At No Filter Medical Spa, microneedling is performed by licensed providers under medical director oversight, numbing is included, depth is mapped rather than fixed, and the treatment can be elevated with your own platelet-rich plasma or a PDRN infusion. Sessions are 60 minutes, confirmed at consultation. Individual results vary.

Overview
What Microneedling is
Microneedling uses a motorized pen fitted with a sterile, single-use cartridge of ultra-fine needles. As the pen glides across numbed skin, the needles oscillate rapidly, creating a dense field of microscopic channels in the epidermis and upper dermis. Each channel is a tiny, controlled injury that closes within hours — but the signal it sends lasts for weeks, prompting fibroblasts to lay down fresh collagen and elastin, remodel scar tissue and refine the surface of the skin.
Nothing synthetic is deposited in the skin, which is why microneedling suits patients who want measurable improvement without injectables, and why it is safe across all Fitzpatrick skin types when depth and aftercare are handled correctly.
Five ways to book it at No Filter — classic microneedling, or microneedling elevated with one of four regenerative infusions, each with its own page:

The Technology
How it works
- Controlled injury. The pen's needles create channels at a set depth — shallower on the forehead and around the eyes, deeper over acne scarring on the cheeks. Depth, not force, is what determines results, which is why a provider maps it zone by zone.
- The repair cascade. Within hours the channels close. Over the next days platelets and growth factors recruit fibroblasts to the area; over the next four to six weeks those fibroblasts produce new collagen (initially type III, maturing into type I) and elastin.
- Remodeling. Old, disorganized collagen in scars and lines is gradually replaced with a smoother, more organized matrix. Pores look tighter because the skin around them is firmer; fine lines soften; scars become shallower and less visible.
- Enhanced delivery. For about an hour after treatment, the open channels absorb topicals far more effectively than intact skin — which is why PRP or PDRN applied at this moment can do more than it ever could on the surface. Only sterile, medically appropriate products are used in the channels; never retail skincare.
Results build with each session, which is why microneedling is planned as a series of three to six treatments four to six weeks apart, then maintained a few times a year.
Candidacy
Who it's for
- Uneven texture, enlarged-looking pores or a rough, "orange-peel" surface
- Shallow and rolling acne scars, chickenpox scars and some surgical scars
- Fine lines around the eyes, mouth and forehead, and early loss of firmness
- Dull or sun-stressed skin that has stopped responding to skincare alone
- Patients who prefer to stimulate their own collagen rather than add filler
- All skin tones — microneedling does not rely on heat or light, so it is one of the safest resurfacing options for deeper complexions when depth and aftercare are managed properly
Not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over active acne cysts, infection, eczema or cold sores, within six months of isotretinoin (discussed at consultation), with a history of keloid scarring, or with certain blood-thinning medications. Deep, ice-pick scars and significant laxity respond better to other treatments — we will tell you if that is the case and point you to them.
How to Choose
Which option is right for you
- Texture, pores and fine lines with no scarring → Microneedling, series of three to four.
- Acne scars, dullness or you want the most natural regenerative option → Microneedling + PRP; your own growth factors accelerate healing and improve scar remodeling.
- You want a growth-factor treatment with no blood draw and the same dose every time → Microneedling + PDGF.
- Dehydrated, sensitive, sun-stressed or inflamed skin, or you want the "glass skin" finish → Microneedling + Salmon DNA (PDRN).
- You want the broadest regenerative signal and the easiest recovery → Microneedling + Exosomes.
- Laxity along the jaw or neck, or deeper scarring → ask about Morpheus8, which adds radiofrequency heat to the needles.
- Pigmentation or sun spots as the main concern → a chemical peel or light-based treatment may be the better first step.
Step by Step
The process
- Consultation — Your provider examines your skin under magnification, photographs it, reviews your history and medications, and maps the treatment: depth by zone, number of sessions and whether PRP or PDRN is recommended. Written plan and consent.
- Prep (one week before) — Pause retinoids, exfoliating acids and self-tanner; avoid sun exposure; arrive make-up free if possible.
- Numbing (20–25 minutes) — A medical-strength topical anesthetic is applied and allowed to take full effect.
- Blood draw (PRP only) — A small sample is drawn and spun in a centrifuge while you numb, isolating the platelet-rich plasma.
- Treatment (20–30 minutes) — The skin is cleansed and prepped. The pen is passed across each zone at the mapped depth with a sterile hyaluronic glide serum; PRP or PDRN is applied through the fresh channels.
- Finish — A calming serum and barrier cream are applied; LED red light soothes and supports repair. You leave with written aftercare and a recovery kit recommendation.
- Follow-up — Sessions are scheduled four to six weeks apart; photographs are repeated at the end of the series.
Your Visit
What to expect
With full numbing, most patients describe the treatment as a warm, sandpaper-like vibration — uncomfortable in spots such as the forehead and upper lip, not painful. Immediately afterward the skin is pink to red, warm and tight, like a moderate sunburn. Redness fades over 24–48 hours; some patients notice light flaking or dryness on days two to four. Skin looks fresher and more luminous within a week, and the real changes — smoother texture, softer lines, shallower scars — develop over the following four to six weeks and build with each session. Individual results vary.
Recovery
Downtime & activity restrictions
- Redness and warmth for 24–48 hours (longer and deeper for scar protocols); mild swelling, especially around the eyes, on day one
- Light flaking or dryness on days two to four is normal
- Hands off: do not touch the face for the first few hours; sleep on a clean pillowcase the first night
Aftercare
Aftercare
- For 24 hours use only the recovery products your provider gives or recommends — no make-up, no actives, no retail skincare on the open channels
- Avoid heavy exercise, saunas, pools and hot showers on the face for 48 hours
- Resume gentle cleanser and moisturizer on day two; mineral SPF 30+ from the morning after treatment, reapplied through the day
- Reintroduce retinoids and acids after five to seven days
- No sun, self-tanner, waxing or other facial treatments for one week
- Most patients return to work the next day; many are comfortable in make-up on day two
Results
Results timeline & longevity
Visible freshness within a week; measurable improvement in texture, pores and fine lines over four to six weeks after each session; progressive softening of acne scars across a series of three to six. Collagen produced is your own and long-lasting, maintained with one to two sessions a year and daily SPF. Individual results vary.
Safety
Risks & safety
Redness, swelling, dryness, pinpoint bleeding during treatment and, uncommonly, bruising or temporary acne flares. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is rare when sun is avoided and depth is appropriate for your skin tone. Infection and scarring are very rare with sterile single-use cartridges and correct aftercare. Granuloma reactions have been reported when non-sterile topicals are used in the channels, which is why we never use retail products during treatment.
Options
How it compares & what it combines with
- Microneedling vs. Morpheus8: Morpheus8 adds radiofrequency heat through insulated needles for tightening and deeper remodeling, with more downtime and a higher price. Microneedling is the better entry point for texture, pores and surface scarring.
- Microneedling vs. chemical peels: peels resurface from the top down and excel at pigmentation and tone; microneedling rebuilds from the bottom up and excels at texture and scars. Alternating them is common.
- Microneedling vs. HydraFacial: HydraFacial is a no-downtime surface treatment for clarity and hydration; microneedling is a collagen-building series with a day or two of redness. Many patients do both on a monthly cycle.
- Microneedling vs. laser resurfacing: laser delivers stronger, faster results for deep lines and sun damage at the cost of more downtime and greater caution in darker skin tones. Microneedling is gentler, gradual and tone-agnostic.
Why No Filter
Care built around you
Most microneedling in Miami is performed at one depth, with one serum, by whoever is free. Ours is mapped. A licensed provider sets the needle depth zone by zone — because the skin under your eyes and the scarring on your cheeks do not need the same treatment — and chooses what goes into the channels based on your goal, not a package. Numbing time is never rushed. Only sterile, single-use cartridges and medically appropriate serums touch your skin. And because we are a full medical practice under medical director oversight, your plan can include what microneedling alone cannot do: Morpheus8 for laxity, peels for pigment, injectables for volume — sequenced so each works better. You also get something no value-priced studio offers: an honest answer when microneedling is not the right tool for your concern.

With medical-strength numbing, most patients feel a warm vibration and brief sensitivity on bony areas. It is well tolerated without any sedation.
Three to four for texture, pores and fine lines; four to six for acne scarring. Sessions are spaced four to six weeks apart, then maintained one to two times a year.
Plan on 24–48 hours of redness, like a sunburn, and a few days of light dryness. Most patients are back at work the next day.
Yes — rolling and boxcar scars respond well over a series, especially with PRP. Deep ice-pick scars may need additional treatments, which your provider will explain.
Yes. Microneedling uses no heat or light, making it one of the safest resurfacing options for deeper complexions when depth is appropriate and sun is strictly avoided afterward.
PRP is your own concentrated plasma, drawn on site, rich in growth factors that speed healing and improve scar remodeling. PDRN is a polynucleotide serum derived from salmon DNA used to support repair and hydration. Your provider recommends one based on your goal.
A fresher look within a week; structural changes in texture and scars over four to six weeks, improving with each session.
Allow at least one week, ideally two, before an important event. For same-day glow, a HydraFacial is the better choice.
Home rollers reach only the top of the skin and carry a real infection risk with repeated use. Medical pens use sterile single-use cartridges at controlled depths the skin cannot be safely treated to at home.
Yes. It is commonly alternated with chemical peels, maintained with HydraFacial, and sequenced with injectables (on separate visits) and Morpheus8 as part of a provider-built plan.
